We’ve recently re-engineered our SNAP exhaust tips to bring them closer to the original and added a second model which will fit onto a 1 3/4″ diameter tail pipe. The new tips are 20mm longer (now 270mm) and that added length has gone into the section that fits over the tail pipe. We’ve added an authentic style of  constriction around the neck to prevent the tailpipe from extending too far into the SNAP. Not only are they now much closer in appearance to the original but we have also managed to reduce our manufacturing costs making these ‘luxury’ items far more affordable.

As with the previous version these items are made from mirror polished Marine Grade 316L stainless steel .

Developed in Italy in the 60s and fitted to GT racers, here’s some SNAP exhaust tip theory of operation…

In a 3 litre car with 4 tail pipes the exhaust gases leave each pipe at around 5m/s (12mph) per 1,000 rpm. As the car moves through the air and over the SNAP exhaust tip, ‘ROAD’ air flows in through the side ‘eyes’ and out through the centre of the SNAP exhaust tip. As soon as the speed of the road air entering through the eyes and exiting through the centre hole exceeds the speed of the exhaust gases then, according to the Bernoulli principle, the road air gases will be at a lower pressure than the exhaust gases. Bernoulli, in simple terms states that pressure reduces as speed increases.

The pressure drop caused by the road air, which has been channeled through to the centre of the exhaust air, effectively creates a pull (or reduces the amount of push) (back pressure)) on the exhaust gases. It is this reduction in back pressure which is claimed to allow the engine to breath more efficiently and so achieve an improvement in performance.

These SNAP exhaust tips are a fabulous finishing touch: a must have for any serious enthusiast and now, more affordable than ever.
